What’s In Your Bag? - Quarantine Edition

Most of our society has been secluded in their homes for weeks, even months since the coronavirus pandemic hit. Now that parts of the world are ready to brave reopening, many of us are wondering what we should bring outside. Here is a list of things you should have for your post-pandemic outings…

1. Opt for the Fanny Pack

According to the Huffington Post, car larcenies and burglaries have become more common during the COVID-19 pandemic. If you’re worried about your bag being stolen while leaving the grocery store, opt for a fanny pack instead of a purse. Other solid options include this belt bag or a chain crossbody.

2. Medical Mask

Some states still require citizens to wear masks when out in public. Regardless of your state’s current restrictions, it’s always good to have one in your bag just in case. Here are some other options:

3. Travel-size Purell (aka Liquid Gold)

Most places will tell you that they are out of this stuff. If that is the case, try to find an old travel-sized container and buy a bulk package of sanitizer. You can refill the container whenever you run out. Attach the travel-sized Purell to the outside of your bag for easy access.

4. Handkerchief or wet wipes

Wet Wipes have been a lifesaver for many, and help when cleaning off newly purchased products. However, some of us have been using wipes at checkout. If you find yourself using wipes to avoid touching the keypad, try investing in a handkerchief. They are washable, reusable, and generally better for the environment.

5. Shades

There may be a pandemic right now, but it’s still summertime. Protect your eyes from the sun you haven’t seen in months.

6. Lip Balm

While masks have made wearing lipstick and lip-gloss bothersome, lip balm is the new move this summer. Trish McEvoy’s Lip Perfector Conditioning Balm is moisturizing, lightly tinted, and cruelty-free.

7. Concealer

With the lower half of our faces covered, it’s important to conceal our under-eye area. NYX provides multiple shades for all skin types.NYX Professional Makeup HD Studio Photogenic Concealer Wand is a Cruelty-Free, PETA-certified, and Vegan product.

8. Sunscreen

Despite having most of our face covered when we go outside, it’s important that we protect our face from UV rays. The Hangover Good to Go Skin Loving SPF 25 Moisturizer by Too Faced is Cruelty-Free, Paraben-free, sulfate-free, phthalate-free, and gluten-free.

9. Mascara

Since masks have hidden our lips from the public eye, our next best shot at conveying expression is through the eyes. Pack a travel-sized mascara for on-the-go eye maintenance.

10. Wallet

You won’t be bringing all your cash to the store (too much hand to hand contact). Use a small wallet to pack your ID and your debit card.

11. Earbuds

A staple for any occasion—pandemics are no exception. These are the cheap version of Airpods, you can get at Urban Outfitters.

12. Phone

Last, but certainly not least, you will need your phone. If you need a new phone case, Free People has an extensive and stylish assortment of cases, ready for delivery.
