5 Heatless Hairstyles for Healthy & Chic Looking Hair
We all know that while those heated flat irons and curling wands may make our hair look great, in the long run, the heat is doing more harm than good. Continuous heat usage can make your hair feel dry and coarse, and cause split ends and breakage. As someone who has used heat on her hair almost everyday since she was thirteen, I know how difficult it can be to cut back, especially when your natural hair just doesn’t live up to your expectations. However, having been quarantined at home these past couple of months, I’ve taken this time to give my hair a break from the heat and to experiment with new ways of styling it. Here are 5 easy, heatless hairstyles that you can put to use in order to keep your hair looking chic and healthy all summer.
Braiding your hair is by far one of the easiest ways to create a hairstyle that can be worn both casually and formally. Not only that, but the style options when it comes to braiding your hair are almost endless. While my favorite style is the classic braid, there are so many different styles to choose from! Whether it’s the French braid, the fishtail braid, or a braided ponytail, there is bound to be a look that’ll catch your eye.
2.) Beach Waves
This has been my most worn hairstyle lately for sure! It requires almost zero effort, and the results are always stunning. Simply braid your hair at night before going to bed and then take the braids out the next morning after sleeping in them. You’ll have the perfect crimped waves as soon as you wake up! Alternatively, you can add a sea salt spray to your hair after showering and then let your hair air dry — this will create a slightly different waved effect, but cute and easy all the same!

3.) The Classic Messy Bun
If you’re looking for a super casual and quick hairstyle that’ll keep your hair out of your face as you work, this one’s for you. The messy bun has been a classic among us long-haired gals for years, and it has yet to go out of style. There’s just something about the controlled messiness of it that makes you feel like your hair has been styled, while still only taking you a few seconds to put together.
4.) Half-Up Pigtails
This is a hairstyle that I find can add a lot of volume to your hair without the use of product or heat. It’s another one of those hairstyles that takes only a couple minutes, yet turns out looking great. Just part your hair down the middle, and then (working one side at a time) grab the top half of your hair, pulling it into a high pigtail at the top of your head. You can also make your pigtails smaller or bigger if desired, or braid them separately or together to create a whole new look.
5.) Ponytail w/Hair Accessories
The ponytail is a classic that will probably never go out of style. While even a simple ponytail can look chic and stylish, you can spice it up even more by adding hair accessories, such as scrunches, hair scarves, or hair clips. Adding one of these accessories can give your basic ponytail a more stylish look that you’ll be happy to wear everyday.
